Everything exists in rhythm

Rhythm has been at the heart of Tej's life for as long as he can remember. Introduced to the tabla at an early age, he began formal training in North Indian classical percussion at seven, laying the foundation for a career that seamlessly bridges tradition and contemporary music.

As a longtime member of the Toronto Tabla Ensemble, Tej performed, recorded, and toured alongside some of Canada's most respected musicians, contributing to a Juno-nominated recording and developing a deep appreciation for musical collaboration. His curiosity soon expanded beyond classical music into DJ culture, turntablism, electronic music, and music production—bringing together live percussion and modern sound in a style uniquely his own.

Over the past two decades Tej has been involved in ground-breaking national and international projects. He composed original music for Canadian director Richie Mehta's debut feature Anamika, and CBC Gem’s smash hit “Sort Of”; and was principal percussionist for Franco Dragone's India Circus, and Director Ravi Jain’s critically acclaimed, Dora award winning stage adaptation of “The Mahabharata”. These experiences have shaped an approach that blends the expressive depth of Indian rhythm with electronic music, global influences, and immersive live performance.

Based in Toronto, Tej continues to compose, produce, DJ, and perform, creating rhythm-driven music that connects cultures, energizes dance floors, and invites listeners into a rich, evolving sonic landscape.
